MY STORY:
I'm second generation Panel Beater. I learned my skills from my father .
My first introduction to the car world started when we were at Tony’s Auto Wreckers in Midvale. We were walking through the wrecking yard and Tony was showing us around. Dad noticed an XT Falcon Ute and it was sitting on tree stumps. Dad walked around the Ute feeling the panels. Next minute Dad shook Tony’s hand and bought the car .
I thought your crazy old man .The car arrived at the workshop. We then started to restore the XT Falcon Ute. That was my first experience in the Automotive trade .
Slowly but surely the car was painted bright orange and it became the Panel Shop Ute EG DOCTOR RUST. The car was a V8 302 Windsor Three on the tree out of the factory. Ha ha try to find one now ! Rare as a rocking horse .
As time went on the old V8 302 Windsor was tired, so out came the motor and cammed up 351 Windsor was its new heart beat .The car was 3 speed manual on a tree, but the old tree couldn't handle the abuse. We ended up with a three speed speco shifter on the floor. I learned to drive in that car when I was a kid and the memories of my Dad driving the old ford made me into a lover of old school cars .
I started my Apprenticeship in the early 1990's as a spray painter. I've been in the trade working at multiple panel shops over the years learning new skills along the way in the restoration process of old cars. I have also built my own cars over the years and continue to do so to this day ..
